Kyle McIntosh's research focuses on second language writing and assessment, English for academic purposes, intercultural rhetoric and the politics of English as a global language.

McIntosh has published inÌýTESOL Quarterly,ÌýJournal of Second Language Writing,ÌýJournal of English for Academic Purposes,ÌýInternational Multilingual Research JournalÌý²¹²Ô»åÌýCritical Inquiry in Language Studies.Ìý

His edited book,ÌýApplied Linguistics and Language Teaching in the Neo-nationalist EraÌý(2020, Palgrave), explores how resurgent nationalism around the world demands re-examination of many of the theories and practices in those two fields. He also co-edited, with Carolina Paelez-Morales and Tony Silva, the volumeÌýGraduate Studies in Second Language WritingÌý(2015, Parlor Press) and co-authored, with April Ginther, the chapter "Language Testing and Assessment" in theÌýPalgrave Handbook of Applied Linguistics Research MethodologyÌý(2018).Ìý
